Phoenix Gas Co-op.

Phoenix Gas Co-op Ltd., formerly Wainwedge Gas Co-op Ltd.,  has been in operation since 1974 and is a member of The Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops. We currently provide gas services to over 1500 customers. Our service area covers parts of the MD of Wainwright No. 61 including the Village of Chauvin, Edgerton area and Greenshields as well as parts of the Flagstaff County including the Village of Alliance, and Hamlet of Galahad.

The Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd was formed in 1964 and is the umbrella organization for all of the rural gas co-ops. These rural gas co-ops form the world’s largest rural natural gas system with over 119,000 customers. The Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd. hosts various fundraising events including the Federation Charity Golf Classic which is an annual event raising funds for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of Canada, Alberta and Northwest Territories Division.

We are a member owned not for profit cooperative overseen by an elected Board of Directors. Our daily operations are managed by our General Manager and Operations Manager. Phoenix Gas Co-op Ltd. hosts its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the Spring of each year. Dates, time and location of the meeting are advertised beforehand on our website and we also provide information on our monthly billing.

The Annual General Meeting of Phoenix Gas Co-op Ltd will be held at:
Wainwright Communiplex,
700 – 2 Ave., Wainwright, AB T9W 1C4
starting at 7:00 PM on April 9th, 2025.
 
Doors for the AGM sessions will open at 6:00 pm, allowing for confirmation of registration and distribution of voting packages.
The AGM will begin promptly at 7:00 pm.
All members wanting to attend the AGM are recommended to register before 4:00pm on April 8th, 2025,
by calling the Phoenix Gas Co-op office at 780-842-4653.
In person registration is also available at the door.

Phoenix Gas is available to provide construction services for individuals and commercial companies. Our wide variety of equipment includes an excavator, trencher, plough, skid steer, picker truck, dump truck and Hydro-vac. Learn more about our services and rates.

Gas Emergencies

Call our emergency line at 1 (888) 842-2667 ext. 2 immediately to report a potential leak or hazard – if you smell gas around your meter set, in your home, or around any of our equipment or lines. The emergency line will be answered by office staff during normal business hours to assist you. All emergency calls received after hours will be forwarded to our select answering system and our on-call staff will be alerted immediately. Please provide your name, contact number and legal land location when calling our emergency line after hours.

Our after hours emergency calls are for emergency purposes only and service rates will be billed at time-and-a-half for non-emergency calls.

Regular Maintenance

We will make every attempt to contact you if your meter needs to be replaced for regular maintenance or if we are working in your area and the gas supply needs to be temporarily disconnected. Contact our office to make any changes to your contact information and to ensure we have the best phone number to contact you.
